Amy Mathews was born in Melbourne, Victoria, but has lived most of her life in Sydney, New South Wales.
Amy went to America to accept a scholarship at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. On her return to Australia,
she enrolled in a two-year course at the Actors’ Centre in Surry Hills.
Amy has had various roles in the theatre with the Bell Shakespeare Company and has had guest roles in television in All
Saints, Blue Heelers (live), Head Start and Always Greener. Amy played Mel in FOX8’S Love Bytes.
Home and Away fans will have seen Amy a few years ago when she played a nurse in the series. When she was offered the role
of Dr Rachel Armstrong in Home and Away, Amy was truly excited. "To have full time work as an actor is a dream come true!
It’s just amazing to do what I love every day," Amy says..
"It’s hard work", says Amy, "but I’m loving it! I love working with Ada (Nicodemou) and Chris (Hemsworth).
They’re not only great actors, but lots of fun!" Amy has so far shared most of her scenes with Chris, who plays Kim
Hyde, whose life was saved by Rachel after a drug-induced coma.
Love is in the air as romance blossoms between Rachel and Kim.
